Knott’s Berry Farm STEAM Day

Get ready to blast off into STEAM!

Columbia Memorial Space Center is excited to partner with Knott’s Berry Farm for an interactive STEAM event that brings learning to life. Teachers can give students the opportunity to design, build, and launch an Estes Alpha model rocket. Each school team will assemble and customize a rocket kit before submitting it for on-site safety inspection and judging on the day of the event.

When is STEAM DAY?

High School - March 10, 2026

Jr. High/ Middle School - March 11, 2026

Registration is limited to a maximum of 30 teams of 2-4 students each day.

Note: This opportunity is only open to those schools already attending Knotts’ STEAM Day. You will need to provide proof of attendance when registering below.

MODEL ROCKET CHALLENGE INCLUDES:
An Estes Alpha model rocket kit, glue, wadding, a building tip sheet from the rocket certified staff at Columbia Memorial Space Center, and participation in the rocket challenge awards ceremony. Participants will need tape, scissors, hobby knife (or similar) and optional paint or stickers to decorate. Columbia Memorial Space Center will provide the rocket motor, ignitor, and launch equipment onsite during Knott’s Engineering Day.

MODEL ROCKET CHALLENGE RULES:

  • Registration is for 1 model rocket kit for a team of 2-4 students from the same school.

  • Registration is for teachers to register one student team at a time.

  • Only 2 entries per school is allowed.

  • There must be a team of 2-4 students per model rocket kit.

  • Teacher must be present during construction and coaching.
